Among
the sea of food trucks dishing out niche cuisine in Calgary this summer, look
for the Kurry Up food truck specializing in Indian street food. Any person who
visits the Kurry Up food truck for the first time will notice that it is unlike
any other food truck in Calgary. The truck is 33 feet long and equipped with a
full modern professional kitchen including a tandoor. A tandoor is a clay oven
heated by charcoal or wood used to cook naan breads, often cooking fresh bread
in a matter of minutes
.
For
all Indian food aficionados, I invite you try out their selection of
traditional and modern dishes served during lunch and dinner. Kurry Up is a
unique addition to the “restaurant on wheels” industry and one of the first
licensed East Indian food truck to serve the city of Calgary. Owner, Jassie
Bakshi, has been serving the Calgary restaurant industry for the last 15 years
as head chef.
Chef
Jassie Bakshi began training in New Delhi. Another popular dish that was
created at the famous Mooti Mahal restaurant in New Delhi during the 1950s is
‘Murgh Makhanai’, which directly translates to ‘Butter Chicken’. This popular
Indian dish is made by marinating chicken in yogurt blended with spices like
garlic, coriander, ginger, cumin and many others Indian spices, cooked in the
Tandoor, served in a mild curry sauce which includes cashew paste and
butter. Come and enjoy delicious Butter Chicken from a trained chef who
has brought the original recipe of Butter chicken from New Delhi to the streets
of Calgary.
The
Kurry Up food truck is parked in downtown Calgary during lunch hours and
located at 401 21 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 1S7 during dinner hours. Follow Kurry
